Syncing the drug database
First sync, incremental updates, and offline troubleshooting
Syncing the Drug Database
Keep your MedSafe database up-to-date with the latest drug information, pricing, and availability data.
Initial Database Sync
When you first use MedSafe, the app will download the complete drug database:
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection
- The initial sync may take 5-10 minutes depending on your connection
- Keep the app open during the sync process
- You'll see a progress indicator showing sync status
Incremental Updates
MedSafe automatically checks for updates daily:
- New drug additions
- Price updates
- NAFDAC status changes
- Recall notifications
- Safety alerts
Manual Sync
Force a manual sync when needed:
- Go to Settings → Database
- Tap "Check for Updates"
- Wait for the sync to complete
- Review the sync summary
Troubleshooting Sync Issues
Sync Fails or Stalls
- Check your internet connection
- Ensure you have sufficient storage space (minimum 500MB)
- Close other apps to free up memory
- Restart the MedSafe app
- Try syncing on a different network
Partial Sync Completion
- The app will resume from where it left off
- Don't delete and reinstall unless absolutely necessary
- Contact support if issues persist
Always ensure you have the latest database version before making critical clinical decisions. Check the last sync date in Settings.
Offline Sync Strategy
For areas with poor connectivity:
- Sync when you have good WiFi connection
- Enable automatic sync on WiFi only
- Download priority drug categories first
- Use mobile data for critical updates only
